Before I get going on this I have to stop and give credit to the folks/companies that produce my two favorite games. Though I imagine I’ll be preaching to choir a bit here, since if you’re reading this you’re probably a fan on one or the other game, if not both.
Exalted is one of White Wolf‘s games. Tons of fun with, in my opinion, one of the most interesting settings out there. An anime inspired world where the gods have turned their backs on man, and the rot is slowing eating away at the world. If you enjoy high powered, sweeping stories where you can start remaking the world in your image in the very first session, you should definitely check out Exalted.*
FATE is the brainchild of Fred Hicks and Rob Donoghue, and currently in its third incarnation in The Dresden Files RPG, produced by their company Evil Hat Productions. They also produce Spirit of the Century, a pulp inspired game which uses an earlier version of FATE, and several other gems. Check them out if you haven’t already.
*Be warned, Exalted is very rules intensive. The game is simple on its surface, but has several nuances and quirks that are not so obvious. That said, it is very very fun to kick a mountain in half.
